Gutters in Houston have a harder job than almost anywhere else
Houston gets around 50 inches of rain a year, and it doesn't fall politely. A single afternoon storm can drop two inches in an hour, which is more than a standard 5-inch gutter with 2x3 downspouts can carry off a typical two-story roof. That is why so many Houston homes have water pouring over the front edge during a storm even though the gutters "aren't clogged." They're undersized.
The second problem is the ground. Most of Harris County sits on expansive clay over slab foundations. When downspouts dump water two feet from the house, the clay swells, then shrinks in August, and the slab moves. Foundation repair companies here will tell you the same thing: the cheapest foundation fix is a working gutter with the downspout extended six feet from the wall.
The third is the housing stock. Meyerland, Sharpstown, Westbury and most of the 1970s–90s subdivisions from Katy to Pearland still carry their original aluminum gutters. Thirty years of heat, humidity and hurricane-season wind is about what those systems were good for. So when we look at a gutter job in Houston we're not just asking "does it leak." We're asking whether the system is sized for the roof, whether the water ends up somewhere that won't hurt the house, and whether the fascia behind it is still solid.

How much does gutter repair cost in Houston?
Most repairs run $150 to $600. Resealing a leaking corner or end cap is at the low end; re-hanging a long sagging section or replacing a crushed downspout is toward the top. If more than a third of the system needs work, replacement is usually the better spend — we'll say so on the estimate.
What does seamless gutter installation cost in Houston?
Seamless aluminum runs about $9 to $15 per linear foot installed in the Houston area, so a typical single-story home with 160 feet of gutter and four downspouts is around $1,600–$2,400. Two-story homes, 6-inch gutters and extra downspouts add to that. Copper and steel are separate quotes.
Do I need 6-inch gutters in Houston?
Often, yes. If you have a large roof area draining to one run, a steep pitch, or you regularly see water sheeting over the front edge in heavy rain, 6-inch gutters with 3x4 downspouts carry roughly 40% more water. For a small single-story roof, 5-inch with 3x4 downspouts is usually fine.
Can you repair gutters after a hurricane or tropical storm?
Yes. Wind-pulled gutters, bent sections and torn-off downspouts are common after storms. We photograph the damage for your insurance claim, secure what can be secured, and quote the repair or replacement. Storm work is scheduled first, ahead of routine cleaning and guard installs.
Do you replace rotted fascia board?
Yes. Rotted fascia is the most common thing hiding behind an old Houston gutter, and new gutters can't be hung on it. We replace the board with primed lumber or PVC trim before the new gutter goes up, and we price it per foot on the same estimate so there are no surprises.
Are you licensed and insured?
Texas doesn't issue a license for gutter contractors, so anyone can claim to be one. We carry general liability and workers' compensation insurance and will send you the certificate before work starts — ask any contractor for the same, and walk away from one who won't produce it.
